Best coffee at the beach. I would drive from Lincoln City down and Newport up to get a cup. I'm an addict so I need my coffee fix and this place provides just enough. This would be a 3 star in Denver and a 2 or a 1 star in Portland, but 5 stars is accurate for the coast...I've never had a decent cup there.

Nice place. Great tasting coffee. Roast their own right there. Friendly folks. We ordered up two lightly flavored lattes and were very satisfied. 4 Yelp stars is pretty high for us. They were about 6 on our personal scale of 1-10. Also had a tasty slice of carrot cake but we were primarily interested in the coffee. We bought a bag of their medium blend beans to take home. We would recommend this place to our friends.

Great customer service. The owners are very friendly and the atmosphere is cozy. My girls said their hot chocolate and chai tea were some of the best they've ever had. I had a caramel white chocolate that was very good! A new favorite of mine.

Their coffee is strong and delicious, and the employees/owners truly are coffee artists. The chai is the best I have ever had (spicy, thick, and just the right amount of sweet). The people are great and helpful and attentive. Their selection of handmade gifts (from knitted to sewn to pottery) is lovely to browse through. Don't miss the handmade scrimshaw on the wall - I purchased an amazing ship scrimshaw necklace on a fossilized walrus tusk for $20 (the chain alone is worth that much). They also have a very clean and nicely decorated restroom!

Great coffee, expertly roasted and prepared in a delightful ambiance. But what would you expect when the friendly and knowledgrable owner's name is Philpott (really!)?

Neat little place. Stopped by while passing through. Lots of things to buy, gifts ranging from glass items to purses made of recycled coffee bean bags. The whole pirate theme was pretty great too... Not to mention Depoe Bay is a pretty cute town.

In the early morning, the aroma from Pirate Coffee drifts all the way down the street at Depoe Bay. Just follow your nose - they roast right there - YUM! Folks are friendly with sense of humor & service is superb. Wide variety of coffee with catchy Pirate names. Pieces of 8 is a nice one to try. Cool gifts. FYI - Depoe Bay holds a Treasure Hunt every year. We love to vacation here & buy live crabs from the dock. Pirate Coffee is available online too - makes great gifts.

We arrived right at closing time but the owner kindly kept the place open for us a bit longer. Great coffee (roasted on the premises) and great service!

Love the coffee at Pirate, and the staff ain't too bad either! Very friendly, very helpful. The Spicy Wench (and I'm referring to the drink, not the barista) is espresso and chai and is delicious. Yummy biscotti and other treats, too.

We love the coffee, the sweets and the people who run the shop! The sisters are a hoot! We have come back numerous times. Wish we had this in Atlanta. Mark & Patti

Whenever we stay overnight in Newport or Lincoln City this is our go-to place for morning coffee. Nice people, cute shop, reasonable prices. I love good strong coffee, so for me the flavored drinks here are too sweet. I order a double shot of espresso on the side and pour it into my drinks to cut the sweetness and give a stronger coffee flavor. My friends also did this. Aside from that we love this place. Besides, who can resist ordering a Spicy Wench or Inappropriate Pirate and having them ask "do you want us to whip your wench?" or "do you want your pirate whipped?" It makes me chuckle every time :)

Spicy Wench!! So good. That was for me. The rest of the party had typical coffee drinks which were very good. Best place to stop after a whale watching trip.

Arrrgghhh matey's..what a great place to grab and enjoy a cup of coffee and scone! Pirate Coffee is a family owned affair that roast their own blend right there in the shop. Plenty of seating inside for rainy days, but I would walk down to the seawall and watch the waves. Ordered a spicy wench, cafe aulait, hot chocalate, and scones on my two visits. The spicy wench was fantastic. Mix of expresso and I want to say chai that makes a enjoyable blend. Topped with fluffy whip cream and nutmeg sprinkle. This is their signature drink.. totally fitting to their pirate theme shop My boy's review of the hot chocolate, was "it's off the hook!" The homemade scones are money. Not sure what they do to make them sooo moist. They are not your typical super dry and crumble all over the place brick. Atompshere is super friendly you can tell they know their locals and welcome their visitors with a huge smile. They are also available on line and have a coffee of the month club. Definitely will be stopping again when I'm visiting the OR coast.

For a local, friendly tourist coffee shop this one was super cute. Menu is fairly generic with a few killer specials. If you are looking for a fresh pour over this is not the shop for you. A little disappointed that a coffee roastery with a store front didn't offer a simple fresh pour over but that is not their audience it seems. Service was great though and they have lots of gifts to choose from.

Finally! Espresso prepared by and for people who know when it's done right. Good strong, not bitter, coffee and espresso. And it's HOT. And they have large sizes. And they're really nice people. Ah. The pirate-themed shop is chock full of handmade gifts and a fun place to sit. They roast their own coffee on the premises and are known for their cold filtered espresso. One ounce in a hot cup of water yields a perfect cup of coffee. It's shipped to customers all over the world! Can't wait to try it.

Hello, My name is Scott and my wife Alice and I visited this location (Depoe Bay) during the week of the 4th of July and we experienced some of the rudest customer service "ever"!!! I'm giving our total experience "two" stars and not "one" simply because our white mocha was pretty good, but we'll never return because of that less than stellar customer service experience... I see that this location has received a negative feedback before and it also looks like the owner, or whomever responded to the negative complaint basically accused the feedback as non legitimate, so let me prove that this experience indeed took place, my invoice number was 0015, on 07/10/2015, at 10:20 and 49 seconds in the a.m. and the total was for $7.25 plus tip. I had even asked for our tip back following the horrible experience and were refused, so that's also pretty bad, wouldn't you say??? So now let me get to my complaint. I paid with a debit Visa card and on the back of the card I have "SEE I.D.", the blonde haired woman that was helping me never asked for my I.D., so I showed her the back of the card and then she asked for my I.D., I went the extra mile to explain that we had just been the victims of identity theft and that's why I was even bringing the situation to her attention to begin with, but to our amazement she responded with, "well it looks like what you really need to be doing is practicing how to sign your name", I responded with excuse me, giving her a possible out, but she actually responded with the same quote, but even more angrily, so I asked her to please pull out my receipt and lets compare the two signatures and we had an almost exact match, other than one letter, but if she really did think the signatures didn't match, then why in the heck did she even accept this form of payment to begin with. She continued to talk negatively to us and she would just not let it go, she seemed as though she needed to win, regardless of how it made us (the customers) feel, so I guess in her mind she won. My only recourse and right is to give her this honest review and hope that it will help others from having to experience her lack of happiness. I would never again give this company one cent of our hard earned money and I hope anyone and everyone really takes the time to read this review, so that you can decide for yourself if this is the type of business that you support with your hard earned money, there's lots of places to enjoy a great cup coffee, minus the lip service!!! Thank You, Scott & Alice

The spicy wench is amazing and the customer service is one of a kind. Local coffee shops are my thing and this place is super unique and cute. The lady who worked there, as well as a regular, helped me decide my order and told me what was in the drink and what I can expect. They also had me try the spicy wench before I left, wow was I surprised. You get a hint of chai mixed with coffee finished with a little bit of nutmeg. It's such a perfect treat. And for someone who normally doesn't like chai, this place has got me hooked! Can't wait to come back.

Really good cup! Ask for the spicy wench with maple instead of buttered rum, so good.

Love, love, love this place! It's definitely my favorite coffee shop. The pirate theme is fun, with drinks named accordingly. The spicy wench is my favorite. The owners are very nice, and chatted with us for quite some time. They let us sample different coffees, talked to us about the different places they get their coffees, and remembered us even though we're not from the area. Their daughter, a barista there, is very nice and friendly too. She's great with the customers and kids. You can buy their espresso by the half gallon, and they ship too! It's the best espresso. I buy it by the half gallon (or gallons!) to make my own drinks in between my visits to the coast. Definitely go here a time, or two (or three or four!) when you're near by!

This place is worth the stop if you are going through Depoe Bay. I recommend getting their signature drinks, especially the Spicy Wench (think pumpkin spice latte...but better!) SUPER cute shop too..lots to look at if you have the time. Tons of yummy looking pastries all around..hard to walk out without one!

If you are in a hurry, don't stop here. We were behind one other person who had a regular coffee order, and we ourselves had a simple order and it was almost 15 minutes. The woman behind the counter was very scattered, too, nice enough, but we really just wanted some coffees to go before we got on the road. I had to give her my order twice. I had a mocha, and it just tasted "off." I think you could probably do better.

Okay so there are several things to talk about here. 1. The place is really cozy and a great place to stop and take a break in a busy morning. 2. The blueberry muffin was outstanding. Big, fat, juicy blueberries, and a tender and buttery muffin all around them. One of the best blueberry muffins for me --ever. 3. The hand-made knitted items are perfect Pacific NW beach fare -- it's always chilly this time of year, and somebody is making some cute and colorful scarves and accessories. I suspect the counters full of knits will change to something more summery as the seasons change.... 4. The pirate logo ceramic mugs are very cute, heavy-weight, and big enough to hold a pirate's share of the pot. 5. -- and this is my only reservation -- The iced coffee was weak. But I like really strong iced coffee drinks -- so -- who knows..... But for me, a latte should be just as strong and milky over ice as it is in a hot cup. How this happens isn't rocket science -- you just have to make it stronger before it hits the ice!

Nice service. Great coffee. Freshly roasted. Only got to come in once since I was in from out of town, but I was impressed by this small shop. Yes, the Spicy Wench was legit!

While at the coast this past weekend, my family and I were out and about doing the typical tourist stuff when BAM, I got a killer headache. Unfortunately, I know this headache all to well, it is the kind I get when I haven't had my morning cup of coffee (can we say, addiction?!?). So without much delay, I headed down to the street and stumbled across my saving grace, the Pirate Coffee Company. Upon entering the spunky little shop, I was quickly distracted by the signature drink, the "Spicy Wench." Out of curiosity I asked the barista what it was, but before he had a chance to respond, the sassy lady working with him replied, "That's what I am!!!" It was then I realized I was dealing with my kind of people! Turns out said drink is a combination of espresso, chai, nutmeg, dairy of some sort (I was still snickering at the name and missed that part) and whipped cream. This concoction sounded kind of gross at first, but I felt like saying "Spicy Wench" one more time, so I ordered it anyway for kicks. Much to my surprise, the drink was pretty good. It wasn't spicy at all, as the name would suggest. Instead, the combination of espresso and chai made me long for a crisp fall morning. It definitely isn't something I would get all the time, but well worth the experience. While drinking my coffee I enjoyed the pirate/nautical/coffee theme going on and had a chance to check out the coffee beans they roast. Overall the casual and fun environment with spunky employees made my headache worth it. Next time I am at the coast however, I think I will be stopping by earlier on in the day to skip the headache all together though!

One of my 2 favorite coffee stops in Depoe Bay. Wish they had the t-shirt selection online that I remember them having in the shop... Guess I'll have to take a drive! Thanks for the yummy coffee:o)

I stumbled across this gem of a coffee house on my way back from the family beach house in Waldport, OR. I was surprised to find some excellent hand roasted coffee, and delicious concoctions unlike anything you'll find anywhere else. The place has a very casual atmosphere, and you can expect the barista's to provide entertaining banter. You don't want to pass this place up.

Good coffee in a relaxed environment with friendly staff and owners. While the decor here is nothing special, they are serious about roasting and producing quality coffees and i've never had a bad cup here. As a previous reviewer noted, they get a boost by being on the coast rather than in Portland, but they do produce a good cup of coffee. Not as fancy or well-crafted as some of the places you'll find in cities, but still quite good. I've had their cappuccino and their drip (medium roast) and would recommend both.
